County Carlow is located in the southeast of Ireland and covers an area of 896 km². It belongs to the province of Leinster and its capital is the market town Carlow. Situated in the southwest of the county with the river Barrow flowing through it, it has been a Gealic stronghold for a long time. The river Slaney flows through the eastern part of the county. This part is an extension of the Granite area of county Wicklow. The most fertile area of the county is the limestone land of Barrow Valley in the west, where you may find many castles and ruins. County Carlow has loads to offer to those who love sightseeing, climbing or any other kind of sports. The Carlow Museum is located in Carlow Town Hall, illustrating the history and life of the county. Another tourist attraction is Myshall Memorial Church that has been built by a London businessman in memorial to his daughter. Near the church you will find Rathnageeragh Castle.
